Our purpose at Blaine Christian Church is to live and share the love of God as revealed in Jesus Christ through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Together, we seek to learn, teach, hear, minister, support, grow and worship as a community of faith. As Christ’s disciples, we accept the call to reach out with God’s love to those outside the church. Thus, as part of the Church Universal, we intend to serve both the physical and spiritual needs of our immediate community and the world. To this end we commit ourselves to witness and serve in the fellowship and traditions of the Christian Church.

Lead Pastor — Jim Thompson

Jim Thompson grew up in a small town in Northern Michigan. Northern lower, not that over the bridge, wild west Northern Michigan that just came to mind. Jim has been married to his amazing wife, Trish, for 28 years. Jim and Trish have eight children and three dogs. The Thompsons believe in full hearts and full homes, or they are crazy — the jury is still out. Jim and Trish are committed to loving others deeply and caring for “the least of these.” Jim enjoys sports, hunting and outdoor activities. Trish is a fun, loving person who enjoys adventure as well as training dogs. The Thompsons are deeply committed to Christ and being involved in the local community. Jim has served in full-time ministry since 1999. He has served as both a youth pastor (see, crazy) and lead pastor. The Thompsons look forward to meeting you in this little slice of heaven we call home and invite you to come check out Blaine Christian Church. Jim and Trish look forward to growing alongside of you.
Associate Pastor — David Spalding

David Spalding is a second-career pastor, having retired from the field of education and receiving a call to go to seminary. David received a Master of Divinity in the spring of 2024 and serves as the Associate Pastor at Blaine Christian Church. He is married to his wife, Sue, and they have two married daughters. He and Sue recently became first-time grandparents and they feel tremendously blessed by the love and joy found in this new role.
David enjoys many outdoor activities including golf, fishing, kayaking, and downhill skiing. You might also see him officiating a local high school basketball game or starting a cross country or track meet. These events with school-aged kids still mean a great deal to him. David also likes to get his hands dirty in projects helping individuals or the community as a whole.
David firmly believes that we are saved by grace alone, but he places great emphasis on James’ words that “faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead” (James 2:17). His core beliefs are expressed in Blaine Christian Church’s three principles of being Bible Based, Jesus Focused and People Loving. It is his desire that everyone is welcomed into Blaine Christian Church and that we offer Bible-based truths that speak to the saving grace offered by Jesus Christ.
